
The school of Nursing Duncan Hospital Raxaul was started in 1955 with Auxiliary Nurse Midwife training & Upgrade to General Nursing & Midwifery in 1965 with 10 students and gradually enhanced to 20 students.
It was the prayer hard work and dedication of the nurses at that time especially Ms Irene Stephenson, was appointed as the Nursing superintendent from 1948 to 1971.She strobe to build up a skilled nursing service team, which would faithfully assist doctors and provide patients the very best of care and attention possible. It was she who setup the nursing school in 1955 and laid down the principals and standards that continued to be practiced by the school even today.
The main reason for its inception was strongly felt by Ms Irene Stephenson when she saw the people suffering with lack of good health, ignorance, hygiene, health education and unable to access health care facilities Where the establishment of nursing school was very essential to produce humanity centered care, clinically excellent and consistently caring nurses in order to render best care, educate people and create awareness in health scenarios.
The nursing school has led the nursing students grow personally & professionally in all cadres of nursing field and the foundation laid by ms Irene Stephenson is still practiced today in maintaining the standard of education in nursing School.
